A service of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the site offers access to medical practice guidelines, HIV treatment and prevention clinical trials, and research information. It also provides a series of one-page patient fact sheets on HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention in English and more than ten other languages.

This is a one-stop website for HIV-related information and resources, treatment guidelines and recommendations for clinicians, and access to CDC surveillance statistics.

Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) HIV/AIDS Programs

Information on the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program and resources on how to deliver HIV/AIDS care. HRSA is the primary federal agency for improving access to health care services for people who are uninsured, isolated or medically vulnerable.

Offers a comprehensive, on-line textbook of HIV disease from the University of California San Francisco and San Francisco General Hospital. Helpful database of antiretroviral drug interactions with three searchable formats.

Kaiser Family Foundation

Routinely updated HIV/AIDS pages aggregate state-based data and other information, including epidemiology, released by a variety of federal programs.

National Multicultural Center

The Center represents a national network of clinicians, educators and trainers with expertise in cultural competency and the management of HIV/AIDS. Site offers online learning and an eLibrary.

National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention

This site hosts the interactive Atlas tool to help clinicians and researchers use 10 years of reported CDC data, latest news releases and informative slide decks based on disease epidemiology.

National Network of STD Clinical Prevention Training Centers (NNPTC)

A CDC-funded group of regional centers created in partnership with health departments and universities, this site provides information on regional center trainings and links to e-learning opportunities.   

National Prevention Information Network (NPIN) – HIV/AIDS

A CDC website where public health professionals connect to each other and to HIV-related news, prevention resources, materials, and funding opportunities.

Developed in cooperation with the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD), the site provides state specific information and links to clinical guidelines, provider directories, videos, websites, billing codes and more.

PUBMed Health - HIV information

The National Libraries of Medicine site provides summaries of recent research (for providers or for patients). Other useful features are Drugs A – Z, detailed information on 600+ drugs, and Health A – Z.

Rural Health Information Hub (formerly Rural Assistance Center)

This federally funded national clearinghouse on rural health features the Rural HIV/AIDS Prevention and Treatment Toolkit to help organizations implementing these programs in rural communities.

Target Center


The Technical Assistance Resources, Guidance, Education, and Training (TARGET) Center is Health Resources and Services Administration’s HIV/AIDS Bureau’s multi-faceted technical assistance initiative to serve as a readily accessible, current resource for Ryan White Program clinicians, case managers and grantees. Site also includes an extensive resource library.

Veterans Administration: HIV/AIDS for Health Care Providers

As the largest single provider of medical care to people with HIV in the U.S., this site has policies and reports, provider education, quick references for clinicians, and a browse topics function. Also, site has a 3-page, 7-step guide for clinicians on “Delivering HIV Test Results.”
