Presentation Details:
The COVID-19 epidemic is a particularly grave risk to the millions of Americans with Opioid Use Disorder who are often medically
complex, socially marginalized, and heavily dependent on face-to-face healthcare delivery for treatment.
Emerging data supports the concerns that the pandemic (which the New York Times has dubbed "a national relapse trigger"), and the societal
response necessary to limit disease transmission, may be contributing to increased fatal and non-fatal drug overdose rates.
This webinar will seek to examine these trends, describe some of the regulatory changes designed to help clinicians and health systems mitigate these risks to patients, and elicit a discussion on how primary care clinics in particular can help ensure access to treatment and harm reduction services for OUD while minimizing the risks of COVID transmission.
