Presentation Details:
Maintaining continuous viral suppression among PWH is a central goal of HIV care and prevention. However, there are some patients with extensive psychosocial barriers to care in which engagement in HIV care as it is currently organized is not a realistic goal. The MAX Clinic was designed to engage high-need, complex patients not engaged in traditional HIV medical care using high-intensity support, low threshold access and incentives.
This talk will provide an introduction to the few interventions to improve engagement in HIV care available in the literature, review the MAX Clinic model and outcomes, and discuss key features of taking care of this patient population from a clinical perspective.
